about

On 8th September 1903, Buffalo Bill’s spectacular show,
A Congress Of The Rough Riders Of The World,
rolled into Britain’s most easterly town, the busy fishing port of Lowestoft. The 'Wild West' had come to the 'Far East'.
What did the poor working people of the town make of this huge troupe of indigenous Americans, Arabs, Cubans, Mexicans and more, and what did the visiting people make of the bricked terraced town and its pale people?
Buffalo Bill and his multi-lingual troupe came to delight, enthral, excite and fill with wonder the men, women and children in the many towns it visited on its tours, the show may even have visited your town.
This 23 track album of songs and some instrumentals is the musical counterpart to John's book 'Congress' about the show's visit to Lowestoft and the UK. An edited version of the book with the music was serialised and broadcast by the BBC and it is also a live show. The album contains a hugely eclectic mix of styles, sounds and instrumentation to reflect the different cultures and landscapes in the story.
The book is available through John's website as is the CD version of the album
Track 9 'Adrift' was the single
